Moxie's article highlights the challenge of decentralization.

I recently tooted a great quote:

> “Any decentralized [ecosystem] requires a centralized substrate, and the more decentralized the approach is the more important it is that you can count on the underlying system.”

#Fediverse hardly has substrate, our Achilles Heel. We're on either of 2 tracks:

1. Web2. Fragmentation, centralization, stalled interop

2. Do as best we can, as fast we can, be a real substrate

Moxie on hosting: "The companies that emerged offering to do that for you instead were successful, and the companies that iterated on new functionality based on what is possible with those networks were even more successful."

Wow. What a miserably sad understanding of .

@keith yea, it is 'success' as explained to an audience of capitalists. Well, there's the amount of uptake and adoption of their solutions, which you might see as success. People using it. But of course it refers mostly to $$$ here.

It is 'funny' to me how much crypto has become equivalent to the pinnacle of hypercapitalism.

Take just Vitalik Buterin's net worth for instance: 1.46 Billion !!!! According to Forbes. How does that match with a new, better monetary system? It does not.
