Sadly, the threading model here on Mastadon is not really better than Twitter's, making longer multiparty conversations hard to follow.

I'm sorry you find it sad, but I'm curious as I don't actually see this problem, other than sometimes having to open the thread starter on the OP's server, in order to catch all replies that your instance may not be aware of.

You don't need me to tell you this, but if you have an idea about how to make the platform better, you can start with opening an issue, maybe leading to some code and a pull request, and in the very worst case scenario, a fork.

Indeed, some projects really appreciate that, you know, design research, user empathy, etc. It's all the rage in software design.

Honestly @dk , and you know this, but if your intention is to make your opinion heard to the developers, an issue on the project page is much more likely to have results.
