Also disappointing that Mastodon still wont let you edit posts, delete and repost is better than nothing. but editing with revision history would be better

Once again, one could always go ahead and implement this, although I'm not sure of the implications for #ActivityPub and federating revision history. Delete and re-post is hard enough to ensure, with some instances out there not respecting deletes. I would suggest, "revise well before you post" is better than "ah, i can always edit it later"
It's important not to ask a micro-blogging platform to be the kitchen sink, but rather consider which federated (or not) platform is the right tool.
