@greg @Lats Starlink cannot provide internet to many people - it can't handle the bandwidth. What it is trying to do is to sell lower latency than other satellite internet services at a steep premium, and even then it does not make money.

And satellite internet is _ not _ generally more efficient than running out fiber and putting up cell towers. For example: The Hoh Tribe got a lot of publicity as early users of Starlink. But it is now switching to community-owned fiber and local wireless.

Plenty of time

Most posts about #37c3 were published on the Fediverse.

I found 11.130 posts on the Fediverse (known to chaos.social or mastodon.social), 2.620 posts on X/Twitter and 1.069 on ATProto/Bluesky. Published between 2023-12-23 and 2023-12-31. (I haven't figured out how to collect posts on Threads, but I have found 150 there. Maybe there are more, but they don't show up in the search results.)

There was a 2G and 4G network which was made possible by a frequency sponsorship. About 1 000 people used this network and handled 16.8k calls.

• nobody ever knows what day it is so let's just stop pretending

• deadlines were invented by capitalists
• global south forced to winter during summer
• time is an illusion and calendar isn't real - we made it up!

#deltachat only uses apple's push notifications on iOS for "heartbeat" services -- to ensure the app can show messages for their user (and many users are asking for tighter integration). On Android, Desktop and #ubuntutouch platforms currently no push notifications are used or needed, also no heartbeat ones.

Dear @EU_Commission I have a hard time finding the total #budget dedicated to @EC_NGI for 2021-2027.

Apparently, it is much easier to find the so-called "defence" budget that is fueling #war around the world thanks to the heavy lobbying and revolving doors of the arms manufacturing industry.

I would like to compare how much we, #FreeSoftware #NGI technologists, get to #build #public #digital #infrastructure for #peace, compared to the growing envelopes and power of the #warmongers.

I played with Irish crochet motifs and found some of them looking like gears. Thus the idea of steampunk gears was born.
This collection was made for a virtual yarnbombing project for CoNZealand, the virtual 2020 Worldcon. I ended up using them in postcards suitable for sending to friends around the globe, will see if I can find and show them another day.
