I'm so happy (not) that #virtualbox now has child-friendly penguin pictures and burns some extra cpu cycles for a little distracting mouse-over animations in my VM list. Shame some of my VMs take literally 20x the time to start up after the last "upgrade".
I only I had 10cent for every time I've experienced this syndrome over the last 30 years.... I'd open "efficient software systems inc." and repurpose all the trash hardware you folks have imposed on the world.

yay, #wireshark devs finally merged AMR audio codec decoding patch (https://gitlab.com/wireshark/wireshark/-/merge_requests/10025). You can now play backAMR-in-RTP VoIP calls in wireshark, for example those originating or terminating in 2G cellular networks!

Do not confuse short-staffed and understaffed.
Short-staffed is when two people call out sick unexpectedly, or someone is fired for cause. It is expected to a very short term interruption of smooth operations.
Understaffed is when someone decides that the work of ten people can be done by six people. There is no plan to hire anyone to alleviate the stress and increased workload.

Is there any other scenario you envisage than pirating your music?
Is there any kind of platform that would work for you? Also I'm curious, do you still produce CDs? I think ALL of my musician friends in Mexico City do, and they usually sell a few at gigs. (Mexico seems like a place where somehow, gigging musicians are still able to live from it, of course, it's not luxurious or anything) Unfortunately, they are also all forced to engage with the "social" media for promotion.

Reading this, it strikes me hard that almost the exact same words could be written by or about #FOSS engineers, or the very same internet developer/dreamers who contributed to building the platforms that destroyed musician's livelihoods.

I have, I can honestly say, been running mail servers on and off since some time in the mid-nineties. As I am today. It was never impossible.
What would make it hard would be the lack of static IP address, or access to rDNS. Anything that would prevent one from obtaining such is unequivocally a "big player" decision.

#Whatsapp, or anything from #Meta, it goes without saying, is unacceptable. Recently, #Mastodon, (well, as we both own our instances), is also an option for person to person messaging. Although I honestly have no clue the current state of TLS, so generally my attitude is:
"What happens at #Internet, stays at Internet".
Meanwhile, it would be good to know your experience connecting to IMS on the #PinePhone with any Altan SIM, not just the tic-omv SIM.

... #Telegram became the goto at work which might be kind of my "fault", but the UX is simply superior in IM. Of course, the #privacy bros will have a hernia and say "OMG but it's not e2e bla bla." Truth is there are very few people I would trust to care for my content once it is decrypted at their end. After all, mostly we are talking about #Android devices and who knows what is running on them. Telegram is also not centralised in USA like pretty much everything else....
