WTF? I **hate** #WhatsApp, and I only use it in a sand-boxed user account with a former (expired) SIM card/phone number on my GrapheneOS phone. I'm using WhatsApp for a single purpose only, and mostly through a web browser (as one can type there properly).
Now, it looks like Meta has spoiled that, by requiring a login to Facebook first before being able to use it on the web. WTF?
It is not clear to me (I have not bothered to dig that much and I don't use either service), but it would appear that #facebook or #meta or whatever it is call today have implemented a requirement to identify with an account on "facebook" in order to use the #whatsapp service on the web*
This kind of action on their part is to be applauded fervently!
Any and every move that might persuade even a small amount of people to consider using any of the far superior messengers out there is to be welcomed.
If even just one more person abandons meta platforms, then today was a good day for humanity. If that person happens to be in #Mexico, all the better, as #whatsapp absolutely has Mexico by the balls.
So.... Well done Facebook, More of this kind of thing!
* There is a redirect happening, it is initiated presumably by some JS (obfuscated) running on web.whatsapp.com.
The login link on the facebook service, includes a parameter called "next" set to point back to whatsapp web. So from this one could assume that the redirect is intentional.

So..... #U2 came and made a video in and around the very building in #CDMX where we recorded #BalconyTV 15 years ago. 🙂
Wierd that there does not seem to be a #wireguard app available on #FDroid. Why is that?
I know it is possible to download an apk from a page that also states:
"Most users should probably install from the Play Store".
Interesting choice of language, "should".. Hmmm. Offputting.

A ver che, somos como 600 millones de personas. Tenemos todo el petróleo, el gas, minerales, metales, alimentos, agua y puedo seguir. La clave está en ponernos a trabajar juntos. Ya se es lo que más nos cuesta. Pero hoy tenemos que enfrentar una crisis internacional real que podría ser devastadora. ¿Qué vamos a esperar? Esto no lo arregla Trump ni nadie. Pero podemos encarar nosotros con lo que tenemos que no es poco. ¿Seremos capaces? Es ahora 😏

Hola! En cuanto a xmpp etc, llevo decadas en este juego, y ojalá algun dia se logra descentralizar "internet", pero por ahora, como whatsapp esta fuera de lo pensable, Telegram queda como la unica opción, para lo que se ha dicho, o sea comunicar con la gente "normal".
Durov.. Pues el tipo es un alpha, sí. Leo su canal de vez en cuando, como leo tambien muchos mas desagrabables en "redes". Recien en su canal Durov ha estado hablando mas de privacidad, y critíca, (con razon, diria) o los ineptos en gobiernos y su legislaciones sobre tech. Tengo algo de curiosidad sincera sobre donde esta el *asco, o sea al nivel que hace a uno querer alejarse de su servicio. Porque bueno, esta dificl encontrar algun servico en internet no asociado con algun desagradable en algun nivel de operaciones, ¿no?
*Al mismo, tengo que admitir que me pasa algo similar con "Moxie“, cada que lo leo, pero ya he minimizado el uso de signal desde hace un buen.
