I have been obsessed with #reticulum and #nomadnet this past week. It gives me major early-Internet buzz, like I'm a teenager again.
Whipped-up a crappy-but-functional bit of Python to serve pages on my NomadNet node tonight. Very fun. Now I just have to... uhh... write stuff to put on there.
Just met my first #glasshole in person
Asked him why he was wearing them
He said he'd "the feeling he needs them" because you can hear music with them ¯\(°_o)/¯
And saw no problem with #privacy at all - from what he'd said he didn't know the concept...
Got a bit pissed that I asked him, bc he saw it as "his decision" & "freedom" to wear a piece of surveillance tech in his face
How do you guys act in situations like this? Or am I too 2010ish ;)?

Neighbourhood-First Software: the open web without expecting everyone to self-host - Jade Ambrose https://tv.lumbung.space/w/nzuB248U2LQA1LCn7vYmER
Dear fedizens
I'm getting into secure resilient decentralised mesh p2p/p4p communication networks.
(Wow, that's a mouthful)
Could y'all give me some advice about relevant tech and hardware?
My primary use case is getting a few thousand people securely connected (messaging, preferably some web services as well) in a large area (hundreds of km²) with rugged terrain.
Eventually the use case will become fairly similar to "neighbourhood-first software", with 100k people across a few thousand km²: https://tv.lumbung.space/w/nzuB248U2LQA1LCn7vYmER
I've watched and read some stuff about #meshtastic, #meshcore and #reticulum, like
this blog post https://www.jonaharagon.com/posts/im-getting-into-mesh-networks-meshtastic-meshcore-and-reticulum
this glorious video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_F4rEaRduk
and #p4panda in this blog post https://lores.tech/blog/example-chat-app/
I'm leaning in favour of reticulum with p4panda on top, but can be convinced otherwise.
What sorta hardware is suitable?
Is #microreticulum functional?
Do you know of any decent guides?
Boosts welcome, cheers!

Working with a community network installation that has their own fibre, I wanted to help get connectivity to some people who are beyond the reach of the current fibre rollout.
I decided to grab some #Ericsson #RBS equipment that was gathering dust at the TIC-AC offices and at the same time, install another site that would make use of tic's #900Mhz band concession for social use.
In order to temporarily install the #LTE unit; while a new hilltop tower is in the works, some members of the radio station committee kindly converted a disused toilet room adjacent to the studio into an Ericsson cabinet :-) with some makeshift but sturdy shelves made from fresh pine, which is getting warmed slightly by the equipment, and it smells great!
